regift to your fiance
Date: December 12, 2008
I was given this amazing necklace right before we were married and after about a month I took it in to be cleaned. When the jeweler looked up the name, to my suprise, my new husband had bought it for another woman. He didn't realize that even though I had it now, the warrenty would still be under the name of who he put it under. So I was given a gift that he had bought for another woman and to make it worse, it was while we were together.
It's a ... Bear?
Date: December 6, 2008
I was going out with this guy a few years ago. He was such a great guy! He treated me like I was the best thing to ever happen to him. I was his princess (according to him). Now, as great a guy as he was, he should really let his sister pick out gifts for his girlfriends from now on. During the time we were going out, one of his cousins was getting married far away from where we lived so he left for two weeks to attend the wedding. The first time I saw him after he returned, he handed me a small gray box. I open it to find an extremely large black bear charm attached to a chain. I was stunned. Why a bear? I couldn’t tell you to this day why he would get me a necklace with a bear on it. It wasn’t one of those things that was a joke just between us, in fact I don’t think we ever even spoke of bears in any of our conversations, why would we have? The only thing I could do when receiving this gift was smile, give him a kiss and say I just how much I loved it.
A few years later when I moved, I found a mysterious box in the back of my closet. In it, along with the rest of the contents from past boyfriends, was the bear necklace. As ugly as that necklace was, I could never throw it out. After all, it’s the thought that counts, right?

We had an email yesterday from a fan of the site who felt compelled to write us with the Urban Dictionary Word of the Day:
screwvenir (rhymes with souvenir) - Anything you keep (whether stolen or given to you) from someone's house after you've slept with them. urbandictionary.com
Here's how our reader described it: "I wouldn't say the items I have were "stuff left behind" and they weren't gifts from adoring past boyfriends, but rather things I secreted away to remember him by." I think we may have a few screwvenirs posted already - feel free to share yours!

I was with Dustin in elementary school. I moved away for my dads job but came back a year and a half later and me and Dustin picked up where we left off as if I never left. He started being rude (like most young boys when they like a girl) so I broke it off with him. A few years later we got back together in junior high (we really liked each other our entire lives back then) and he gave me his necklace to keep and hold onto. He was a really nice guy then. Well I don't remember how or why but we broke up.
I was going through an old purse last year and found his necklace. My boyfriend of 2 years was there with me and asked me who's it was. I told him I'm not sure when honestly I did know. I wanted to throw it out but I couldn't. I smile and stare at it everytime I find it. I think of back then and how care free kids are, how I really really liked him and thought we'd be together forever.
Just a little something

I was dating this guy in high school. We were so in love. We were going to spend the rest of our lives together! It all started by me having a get together of the cheerleaders and football players at my house before the season started. The cheerleaders (me and my squad) were getting ready for practice and the football players were in the guidance office. I pulled the one to the side to get his number, he was the only left that I had to invite. Well we talked more and more and got really close and fell in love... well long story short, we didn't spend our lives together. He broke up with me for someone else. I couple years back. I found that little piece of paper that he wrote his name and number on. I kept it for awhile. I'm not sure where it is now. I still love him after all these years and of everything left behind by him I just can't seem to throw out that little piece of paper!
Feathers In My Life
Date: November 27, 2008
I've become somewhat paranoid when it comes to blankets. Both of my long-term relationships have ended not long after a blanket entered into the picture. This has gone to the point where my current girlfriend is under orders to never give me a blanket (at least not until "til death do us part" and maybe not even then).
This blanket was special. The first one was, too, since he made it himself. The second one, though, was actually given to my long-distance boyfriend by my mother for Christmas. She was trying to be supportive and accepting and asked if I thought he'd like the thing. It was dark green, warm, down, fuzzy. Absolutely perfect. The boyfriend had a tendency to sit at his computer and get cold when he was working on school assignments. This seemed like the best thing to keep him warm. Christmas morning, however, there was no surprise and happiness over the blanket. It was just some green thing. "Yay." Not that he was unkind about it, but it didn't thrill him the way I thought it might. Later that week, it ended up on my bed to keep us warm because it was pretty cold. He didn't take it home with him and every time he'd come to visit, I'd offer it back, even though I'd been using it to keep me warm on my bed or at the couch (it's a good blanket!). He always refused, citing that he wanted it here so that something of his could keep me warm.
He left me over the phone eventually. A hard, tearful call that lasted a long time. There's even been a year of a lot of emotional anguish and issues, since he was one of my best friends ever and now I don't have that, either. I miss my friend, but I have to say that at least I got the blanket and it still keeps me warm! That doesn't mean that the new girlfriend is allowed to buy me one, though, no matter how sweet it might be.
The Lawn Mower
Date: November 27, 2008
I don't have a picture of it, as I don't even have it anymore, but one guy I dated several years ago left his lawn mower. He lived in a small town about 30 miles away, and to be honest, I don't even remember how we met. We went on a three or four dates, with him driving all the way to my house. I was a single mother with two daughters, so I appreciated his doing the long drive. I didn't have a lawn mower and my grass was getting tall, so he brought his mower one day and mowed my lawn. He left it in my garage, stating that he would get it later.
The next date we went on, he started talking about getting married and admitted to me that he was just looking for someone to marry so he could try to get custody of his two small children. Undoubtedly, that was our last date, and he never did come and get his lawn mower (I continued to use it until it finally quit working).

I was seeing this guy a couple of years ago. He was amazing! He treated me with the most respect I had ever had. I was a princess (and we weren't even officially together!).
One night he gave me a sweatshirt to wear (one of his favorites). He said he needed it back because he really likes it (it was his favorite basketball team). Well we ended up taking a trip to the lake one night and let me tell you... that was not the best for me and him. The trip actually made us grow apart, not closer like we thought it would. When we got home I kind of decided that I wasn't into it that much and we didn't talk or hang out as much as we had.
I was online one night and decided to talk to him and asked if he wanted his sweatshirt back and he said it doesn't matter. Well I still have it folded at the top of my closet, untouched, undisturbed. I miss him and our friendship and no one knows this but whenever I miss him I will wear the sweatshirt to bed.
